After Hurricane Matthew...

Greg sent this email out to our database of homeowners and buyers.

October 9, 2016

I have spent the last 4 hours driving up and down the Grand Strand. I must say, this was the strongest Category 1 hurricane that I have experienced. I have lived here all my life and have stayed for most storms. The winds on this one seemed to be among the strongest. With that said, there is not as much damage in our area as it may seem. Yes, there are downed trees everywhere. I did not see one community that escaped from downed trees.

As for storm surge, we did get ocean water across the Blvd in NMB, MB, and Surfside/Garden City. I only saw a few cases where the storm surge seemed to damage buildings or houses, and most properties escaped from anything major.

I did have a client with a large oak tree in his house. His home is likely totaled. I have other clients with downed trees which will need a tree service to remove them.

A few broken windows and lost shingles were also seen while I was out.

I am sure the national news is reporting major damage. As we drive around, the major damage appears to be limited to a few buildings and a few houses. You may have seen on the news that a condo building and a few houses burnt to the ground in NMB. That was very unfortunate but at least it looks like no one was hurt.

The Springmaid Pier is nearly gone and there was major damage to the Surfside Pier as well.

I am thankful that the storm wasn't worse and that there were very few injuries.

I know this is a stressful time for most, so please let me know if we can help you in any way.

I have already called a home repair company for a few of my clients so let me know if you need repairs and I will recommend someone that we frequently use.

I will continue to monitor the situation around the beach so email, text or call me anytime.

Have a great day.
